Parents

Father, Sedrak Kocharyan was born in 1910, in Astghashen village of Nagorno Karabakh. He graduated from the Dagestan Agricultural Institute, worked as head of the regional department of agriculture, was the First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Nagorno Karabakh regional council and a member of the bureau of the Regional Committee. He was a Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, engaged in research work, and author to more than 20 academic papers on the problems concerning the agriculture of the NK. He died in 1977.

"People who received an academic degree would mostly move to capitals—Yerevan or Baku. Meanwhile, my father was assured that he is needed here, in the Nagorno Karabakh. He, the agriculturer, was creating a garden city within our mountains, building communism, in the ideas of which he believed throughout his whole life."

Mother, Emma Ohanyan was born in 1926, in the Hadrut town of Nagorno Karabakh. She graduated from the Yerevan Veterinary Institute, worked at the Leninavan Scientific and Experimental Base as a researcher, then at the Stepanakert Territorial Experimental Station as a senior researcher. She died in 2015. 

"Household duties were entirely on my mother's shoulders. Determined, reasonably strict and practical, she was the one to set up family rules, keep family accounts and take care of our upbringing. She was responsible for everything related with the education of children."

 

Family

Robert Kocharyan’s wife is Bella Kocharyan. They have three children: Sedrak, Gayane, and Levon. They also have seven grandchildren: Bella, Ani, Emma, Robert, Mikael, Davit and Zabel.

Wife

Wife, Bella Kocharyan was born on January 31, 1954, in Stepanakert. She graduated from the Sanitary Hygiene Faculty of the Yerevan State Medical University in 1978. She worked as a microbiologist and later as an epidemiologist at the Nagorno Karabakh Sanitary-Epidemiology Station (SES). She was Deputy Chief Physician of the SES, then in 1991-1993—Head of the Epidemiology Department of the SES. Mrs. Kocharyan is currently engaged in public activities. She is the Honorary Chairperson of the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry. Since 2006, she is the Honorary President of the "Circle of Friends'' Council of the Fund for Armenian Relief (FAR) Children's Support Center. 

"Bella is an exceptionally strong person. She never grumbled and quietly endured difficulties even in the hardest times. Being sincere and compassionate, my wife always tried to help others, managed to establish good relations with people and maintain calm atmosphere at home."

 

Sedrak Kocharyan

He was born on July 23, 1981, in Stepanakert. In 2004, he received a Master's Degree in Economics from the Yerevan State University (YSU). In 2004, during his postgraduate education at the same University, he refused the adjournment right and in 2005-2007 served in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia. In 2013, he received a Master's degree in Business Management (MBA) from the "Skolkovo'' Moscow School of Management.

Since 2002, he has been engaged in entrepreneurial activities and is currently the founder, cofounder, member of board of directors and chairman of a number of companies in different spheres. He is engaged in sports such as diving, skiing, snowboarding, as well as triathlon.

He is married to Zaruhi Badalyan and has three daughters and a son.

Zaruhi Badalyan

She was born on May 26, 1981, in Yerevan. In 2001, she graduated with honors from the Bachelor's Degree Program of the YSU Economics Department, in 2003 she received a Master's Degree, majoring in management.

In 2002-2008, she worked at the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia as a banking analyst, banking methodologist at the Departments of Banking Supervision, Banking Methodology and Analysis. Since 2008, she is a member of the Board of Directors of ''Gritti'' LLC, responsible for corporate communications.

Zaruhi Badalyan

Gayane Kocharyan

She was born on September 23, 1983, in Stepanakert. Graduated with honors from the YSU Law Department. In 2005-2006, she studied at the London University, obtaining a Master's Degree in International Law (LLM).

In 2006-2007, she worked at the Ministry of Justice as an Adviser to the Chief of Staff.

She pursues healthy lifestyle, practices yoga, running and swimming.

She is married to Vigen Chatinyan.

Vigen Chatinyan

Was born on January 27, 1984, in Yerevan.

In 2000-2005, he studied in Moscow, at the State University of Management. In 2008, from the same University he obtained a scientific degree of a Candidate of Economic Sciences.

In 2008-2009, he worked at ''Bars Plus'' LLC, as a Director. In 2009-2010, at ''HayRusgazard'' CJSC, in 2011-2013 at Yerevan municipality, where he was Head of the International Investments Division within the Development and Investment Programs Department. Since 2013, he has been the Founding Director of ''Sabre Travel Network'' office in Armenia

Levon Kocharyan

He was born on November 16, 1985, in Stepanakert.

In 2002-2006, he studied at the YSU Law Department, obtaining a Bachelor's Degree.

In 2006-2008, he served at the Department of Special Combat Operations of the National Security of the Republic of Armenia.

In 2011-2015, he continued his education at the YSU Economics Department, receiving a Master's Degree in Economic Theory.

Since 2008, he has been a shareholder and a Board member of ''Nairi Insurance'' company. He is the President of the Armenian Powerlifting Federation.

Married to Siranush Kocharyan (Sirusho), has two sons and a daughter.

Siranush Kocharyan (Sirusho)

Was born on January 7, 1987, in Yerevan. She studied at the YSU Department of International Relations. Studied at the music school named after Sayat-Nova, at the Piano Department. She is a singer, composer, Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia.

She has released five CDs and has been recognized as Armenia's best singer of the year for 12 times. She has participated in the Eurovision International Song Contest, winning the fourth place. She is the first Armenian artist, who has been represented in the ''Best Video'' and ''Best Performance'' nominations at the World Music Awards Ceremony.

She is currently running the "Armat" concert tour, which aims to strengthen the Armenian song and culture in the Diaspora.
